Welcome to Captain’s Corner…

“I would like to say hello and a very warm welcome to my ‘Captain’s Corner’.  For those who don’t know me, my name is Lynne Beattie, Team Captain of the GB Women’s Indoor Volleyball Team. My intention for this page is to give you all an insight into the Team and the incredible journey we are taking to the London 2012 Olympic Games. Between now & the 27th July 2012, this page will will keep you updated with the good, the bad & the funny as our road to 2012 unwinds.

Our Team…

I am honoured to be in the position to lead the GBW on our enthralling journey to 2012 and beyond and I am so excited to live my life-long dream with this team. Our team is unique. It really takes a special person to devote themselves so completely to one single goal.  We are lucky enough to have a whole Team of these special people, players and staff included, and this is why we are unique.  We bring to the table a mix of hard earned experience and youthful exuberance, blending together to create the perfect team, with only one goal in mind……..Success at London 2012.

Our story so far..

For those of you who are new to the GBW website, here is a taste of our ‘Story so far’:

Captain Beattie tells us what it means to lead the team to 2012 and beyond, what its like to be part of the GBW team and what it will take to be successful at London 2012.

A great insight into life without funding, the efforts of HC Audrey Cooper, the obstacles the team face and the positive, pragmatic approach they take on a daily basis. It also highlights how you can help in a very small way!

Find out how Beattie’s Olympic preparations are going as she catches up with Press Association journalist Wayne Gardiner, in the midst of her season in the Spanish Superliga.
