Last week the GB Women were up against some tall, hard hitting, big blocking men in an attempt to provide a tough challenge ahead of their tour of Finland and ultimately the Olympic Games in July.

The local support the GB Women’s Volleyball Team have received in Sheffield has been phenomenal and one of the perks for the girls has been complimentary haircuts and colours from the Wildes Group at their House of W Salon on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield. The Great Britain Women’s Volleyball Team are delighted to announce that we are being supported on our sporting journey by Mercedes-Benz. The Sheffield based company has donated three vehicles to help transport us to training and matches.
With the final Olympic Qualifying Tournament finishing in Japan today, the 12 nations who will compete in the London 2012 Olympic Games are confirmed. The teams, their current world ranking and their route into the Games are outlined in the table below. It certainly represents the best of women’s volleyball with 9 of the world’s top 10 teams included. Continue reading

Recently, 5 players from the GB Women’s Volleyball Team were invited by Volleyball England to Stoke City FC to celebrate and promote the great work achieved through the Premier League 4 Sport initiative.
Stoke was chosen as it is one of the most successful schemes with 4 satellite clubs established, enabling many children to play and enjoy volleyball. There were lots of local and national media covering the event including Match of the Day (at the bottom of this report).
