Sir Steve Redgrave supports the GB women on their Cycle.

Sir Steve Redgrave, five times Olympic gold medalist:

“As someone who competed at five Olympics, and almost all of them with an overdraft, I understand what it’s like to strive for a goal on very little money. My ambition was to win an Olympic gold medal and I was stubborn enough to keep going. The GB women’s volleyball team have a similar ambition - to compete in London 2012 as the very best athletes they can be. That is all you can ask of yourself. I applaud their dedication and taking responsibility for themselves in these difficult financial times. I wish them well and hope they do our country proud in London.”

Lord Sebastian Coe - London 2012 Olympic Organising Committee

Lord Sebastian Coe on the GB women’s team:

“Every athlete trains to be at their peak at the greatest competitive event of their lives so good luck to the team in their efforts. They have come so far already in such a short time. I hope that the team’s dedication is repaid with a fantastic performance at Earls Court in 2012.”

Watch the video on facebook.

GB Women meet Sports Minister Hugh Robertson today at the EIS. It was great to talk to him about our programme and our ambitions for 2012. See link to BBC Look North programme tonight, our piece starts in the 13th minute. Lets be clear, the GB Women have no hidden agenda…our campaign is a positive message to raise our profile, get more people playing volleyball, leave a legacy and raising some funds to allow us to play more matches so that we can be successful come 2012. Mr Robertson has given us a statement of support which is great!
