The GB Women’s Volleyball Team are giving schools and businesses a unique opportunity to adopt a player or coach from the squad, become part of the team and get a real insight into being an Olympic athlete.
You will build a relationship with an Olympic athlete, feel a personal involvement with London 2012 and be inspired by following ‘your Olympian’ from the GB women’s team as they take their place in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
What is it like and what does it take on the road to being an ‘Olympian’…
The Adopt An Olympian scheme gives your school or company the opportunity to establish a direct link with one of the GB players or coaches in the lead up to London 2012.
Your ‘adopted’ player will engage with your pupils or employees through an interactive ‘Blog’ and regular newsletter reports.
This could entwine with a current project or could be the basis of a new one. Where we can, we will try to arrange a visit and support your school or business in the most appropriate way.
Several schools have already adopted a player and the feedback has been exceptional.
We will provide you with information and material about your future ‘Olympian’ such as a PowerPoint slide show including photos and a profile of your ‘adopted’ player, notes to accompany the slide show and a poster which can be duplicated to publicise your event.
In return you will hold a “Non Uniform Day” at school, or a “Dress Down Day” at work, donating proceeds to the GB Women’s programme. All monies raised will be used to provide a competitive schedule for the team in the lead up to London 2012. It is vital that the team can play as many quality matches as possible to prepare them for the greatest sporting event on earth.
