Olympic Torch: Tues 3rd July - Coach Cooper to carry the flame

On Tuesday 3rd July, GB Women’s Head Coach Audrey Cooper will be carrying the London 2012 Olympic Torch in Loughborough.

Apparently she has practiced around her living room and is looking forward to the day! The GB Women’s players will be there supporting their leaders ‘moment to shine’.

Read about Audrey’s nomination, her career, the relay, the torch, and other volleyball torchbearers in our previous article. You can watch Audrey carry the torch online on the Torch Relay website or if you are in the area, at 9.46am: Audrey receives the flame at the Holywell pitches on the Loughborough University campus and will finish at the Sir Dennis Rooke building. See the bottom of the map.

The Torch Relay atmosphere across the country has been phenomenal and in the home of one of the biggest sports universities in the UK, a great crowd is expected! It’s quite poignant that the Head Coach of the GB Women’s team will be carrying the flame in Loughborough, where she has worked for Volleyball England and where many of the current GB players first grabbed a taste of performance volleyball.

See video highlights from Day 38 below and get a taste of the atmosphere surrounding the Flame and the Olympics…goosebumps!
