  • Lynne Beattie (Captain)
  • Maria Bertelli
  • Rachel Bragg
  • Grace Carter
  • Rachel Laybourne
  • Savanah Leaf
  • Ciara Michel
  • Joanne Morgan
  • Elizabeth Reid
  • Janine Sandell
  • Jennifer Taylor
  • Lucy Wicks

We congratulate these 12 players on their selection. At the BOA announcement, Head Coach Audrey Cooper commented:

Firstly, I would like to say a huge congratulations to the 12 players selected here today. For at least 5 years, they have dreamt of making this team, playing in London and being involved in a home Olympics. It has driven them every day (whilst here and away playing pro) to become better physically, mentally, technically and tactically. The work they have put in in all these areas, they deserve to be selected. I believe I have a special group of athletes and I’m proud to have all of them in my final twelve.

We have been on an incredible journey over the last 5 years and having been through this experience with them, I know how much each and every one of them has given and what it means to them - not just for themselves but for our sport. This year the players came back from their professional clubs better than ever, which made competition for places very high. Obviously, this was a great position to be in as coach, but it has meant that selecting the final 12 was difficult - over the last 2-3 years in particular, we have become a tight squad, when players don’t make it, it‘s tough. Every player who has been involved in the GBW programme has made a huge contribution, on and off the court, to where we are today and that is recognised and respected by all of us.

Now, we are into the home straight, we are working hard to make sure we are best prepared for 28th July. Being involved in an Olympic Games is something very special and something that can never be taken away. We are really looking forward to London, being able to perform on the world’s biggest stage, against the best in the world, in front of a home crowd. We are very excited and unbelievably proud to represent Team GB.

More reaction to follow.
